Hey there, fellow momprenuer! As we continue our journey through the chaotic world of work, life, and everything in between, it's crucial to take a moment to reflect on the valuable lessons learned.
Allow me to share the insights gained from the trenches of a demanding career (still growing), offering tips that will hopefully guide us to even greater heights. So, let's dive in!
Quality Over Quantity:
Sure, it's tempting to raise your hand for every opportunity that comes your way, but remember, you're not a superhero (even though you feel like one sometimes!). Be strategic in your choices. Select projects that align with your goals and values, and where your unique skills can shine. Quality contributions will always trump sheer quantity.
The Power of Silence:
As a strong, assertive individual, it's easy to fall into the habit of always having something to say. However, there's immense power in silence. Learn to listen actively, absorb information, and respond thoughtfully. Sometimes, silence speaks louder than words, especially in a room full of chatter.
Prioritize Big Wins, Deprioritize Small Wins:
Not every battle is worth fighting, and not every project will lead to significant victories. Assess the impact and prioritize projects that contribute to substantial wins. It's about working smarter, not harder. Focus on initiatives that align with your overarching goals and objectives.
Trust Your Gut Instinct:
There will be moments when you're torn between logic and intuition. Don't be afraid to trust your gut. Your instincts have been honed through experience, and they often guide you in the right direction. Confidence in your decision-making abilities will set you apart in a sea of uncertainty.
Set Clear Boundaries:
In the midst of the chaos, remember that boundaries are your best friends. Define limits with colleagues, clients, and even family. Communicate your availability, be realistic about what you can handle, and don't be afraid to say 'no' when necessary. Healthy boundaries are the cornerstone of a balanced life.
Observe Actions Over Words
Actions speak louder than words, a timeless truth in both personal and professional relationships. Pay close attention to how colleagues and collaborators conduct themselves. Consistency between what is said and what is done is a hallmark of trustworthiness.
Mentors:
Surround yourself with mentors who inspire and challenge you. Seek guidance from those who've walked similar paths and navigated the challenges you face. A mentor's wisdom is a beacon in the storm, providing valuable insights and perspectives you might have overlooked.
People First:
Amidst the hustle, never lose sight of the fact that you're working with people, not just colleagues. Show empathy, build meaningful connections, and cultivate a positive work environment. The relationships you forge will be instrumental in your success.
Stop Apologizing:
Yes, like the book. every working woman in my generation is familiar with. As a momprenuer juggling multiple roles, the word 'sorry' may slip out more often than you'd like. Remember, you don't have to apologize for being dedicated to your career and family. Own your choices, embrace your journey, and let go of unnecessary guilt.
Dear future self,
As we continue navigating the twists and turns of our career, let these lessons serve as a compass. Embrace the chaos, stay true to your values, and continue striving for that elusive work-life balance. Here's to a future filled with big wins, strong boundaries, and unapologetic success!
Cheers to you, the unstoppable momprenuer!
